What it does.

- What you type is stored in the PDF itself, so the form still has your answers when you send it on.

- Place text fields, check boxes and drop-downs from Markup > Form fields, or have Redpen find the fields automatically. Name each field, give it a starting value or a list of choices, and mark it required or read-only.
- Sign it too
- A drawn or typed signature is free. A digital ID is Office and Pro.

- 01Open the form
Drag the PDF in. View > Highlight form fields shows where to type.
- 02Fill it in
Type, tick and choose. If the form has no fields, add a text box with the markup tools.

Save the PDF. Add a signature first if the form needs one.

What it does not do.
- Placing your own fields on a flat PDF is Office and Pro. In the free plan you can type text onto a flat PDF with a text box instead.
- Scripting isn't supported.

Can I fill out a PDF form without Adobe?
Yes. Redpen is a PDF app for Windows and Mac. Open the form, click a field and type.
Is filling in forms free?
Yes. Filling in PDF forms is part of the free plan, with no time limit and no card.
How do I fill in a PDF that has no form fields?
Add a text box with the markup tools and type into it. To place real form fields on the PDF, use Markup > Form fields, which is part of Office and Pro.
Are my answers uploaded anywhere?
No. Redpen opens and saves the PDF on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server, and no AI reads your forms.
Can I sign the form too?
Yes, for free: the Sign tool places a drawn or typed signature. Signing with a digital ID is part of Office and Pro.
