Sheet links

Click a reference, land on the sheet.

Redpen reads each sheet's number, then turns the sheet references and detail callouts across the set into links to those sheets, saved in the PDF.

S-04.1What it doesPro

What it does.

Sheet numbers read for you
Redpen reads the sheet number on each page and can set it as the page label, so the page box shows A-101, not 14.
Every reference linked
Callouts like 3/S-501 and notes like SEE A-201 become links to the right sheet, across the whole set in one go.
Links anyone can use
They are saved as standard PDF links, so they work for the people you send the set to, in whatever PDF viewer they use.
Clickable while you work
Inside Redpen, sheet references are clickable even before you save links into the file.
S-04.2How it goes

Linking a set together.

  1. 01
    Open the set

Open the combined drawing set as one PDF.

  2. 02
    Read sheet numbers

The Sheets panel lists every sheet by number and title.

  3. 03
    Link references

Choose Link sheet references, save, and send the linked set.

S-04.3Also

Getting around a set.

  • Page labels from sheet numbers
  • Standard PDF links
  • The whole set at once
  • Repeated sheet numbers flagged, not guessed
S-04.4Limits

What it does not do.

  • Redpen doesn't guess. A reference to a sheet number that appears on more than one page stays plain text.
  • A scanned set needs OCR first, which is Office and Pro, so the text on the sheets can be read.
S-04.5Questions

Sheet links: short answers.

Will the links work for someone without Redpen?
Yes. They are standard PDF links, saved in the file, so they work in other PDF viewers.
What if two pages have the same sheet number?
Redpen doesn't guess. References to that number stay plain text, and the Sheets panel tells you which numbers repeat.
Does it work on scanned sets?
Run OCR first so the text on the sheets can be read. Then sheet numbers and references work the same way.
